karibuni / welcome
Thanks to everyone – the artists, crew, staff, and especially the audience – who made the 10th edition of Sauti za Busara such a great success. Plans for Sauti za Busara 2014 are now underway, and we hope you will join us, again if you are a regular, or for the first time if you are yet to discover ‘the Friendliest Festival on the Planet.’
In the meantime, please enjoy the videos below: a Sauti za Busara 2013 promo clip and a 10-minute short documentary on Busara’s 10th anniversary edition. We hope you like them and see you again next year!

“I doubt that there is any other festival in the world in which African musicians are so warmly loved… Sauti za Busara makes you believe in African unity... The festival embodies the side of Africa that brings together the best of the past and what a good future might hold.”

“Festivals invigorate young people’s interest in local culture, give opportunities for artists and music professionals to meet and learn from each other, keep traditions alive, create employment for local people and promote Zanzibar as a model for responsible tourism, that honours and respects local culture.”
Yusuf Mahmoud, Festival Director
