Muhonja is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, actress, guitarist, percussionist, and social activist. Hailing from a family of musicians, her first inspiration was from her parents, who taught her how to play the guitar, further growing to become a self-taught player of the Kalimba and Udu Drums.

Deep into her music, she incorporates African chants, folk songs, and prayers fusing African music with genres like jazz, blues, reggae, etc.

She writes mostly from her own life experiences as a woman. Her themes include Gender-Based Violence, rape, FGM, teenage pregnancy, and women's empowerment, all written and sung majorly in Kiluhya, Kiswahili, and a touch of English.

Muhonja has graced big stages and festivals both locally and internationally in South Africa, and Uganda, just to mention a few. In her self-titled album NAANGWA MUHONJA, she has released songs like Unataka Nini, Kamulangu, Naambakhane, Luwere, Uchungu Tamu, and Africa.

Muhonja has worked with UN Women Africa, Amref Health Africa, The Embassy of Netherlands, the Make Way Program, and Forum for African Women Educationalists-Kenya (FAWEK) amongst others championing GBV against women, girls, and children. Not only has Muhonja won various awards and accolades, but she has also won the hearts of many touched by her music.
