Mbanaye
Mbanaye is one of Malawi's most interesting upcoming bands, fusing their traditional heritage with modern funk and jazz to create a unique sound. Consisting of members from all over Malawi, the band sings in the two languages Chitumbuka and Chichewa.
Mbanaye band was formed in the Kawale area in Lilongwe in 2016, and was quickly noticed for their intricate rhythms and energetic performances. During the past year the group has wowed audiences at Tumaini Festival, Lake of Stars and Nkhotakota Festival.
