Born and raised in Arusha, Tanzania, Frida Amani has emerged as a leading figure in East African hip-hop, gaining recognition as a top musician and a powerful voice for women in the industry.

Frida’s musical roots trace back to her childhood as a church choir singer, where her passion for performance was ignited. Influenced by artists such as Sampa the Great, Lauryn Hill, and Albert Mangwea, she transitioned to rap.

Despite her family’s initial hopes for her to pursue a career in finance, Frida’s unwavering commitment to her artistic dreams, supported by her loved ones, led her to fully embrace her musical path.

Frida’s journey began in 2015 when she participated in the Bongo Star Search competition, where she showcased her talent by securing a commendable third place with her performance of “Nusu Nusu” by Joh Makini featuring G Nako. Her unique blend of rap and dynamic dance routines quickly captured the attention of both audiences and judges.

Following her initial rise, Frida took a brief hiatus to explore broadcasting. She worked as a radio and TV presenter, immersing herself in the intricacies of the music industry while honing her skills.
