Founded in 2008 in Malmö, Sweden, Tarabband is a vibrant six-member group that masterfully blends diverse cultural influences through their music. The name "Tarabband" is a clever fusion of "tarab," which embodies the deep emotional connection between music and feelings, and "band," reflecting their collaborative spirit.

Co-founded by Iraqi-Egyptian Nadin Al Khalidi and Swedish Gabriel Hermansson, Tarabband's sound is a captivating journey that begins in Malmö and travels through Paris, the Mediterranean, and reaches the heart of Cairo and Baghdad. Their original compositions create a unique cross-cultural musical experience that resonates with universal themes of emotion and connection.

At the forefront of Tarabband is vocalist Nadin Al Khalidi, recognized as the “Tradition Bearer of the Year” at the Swedish World Music Awards in 2014. A refugee who fled Iraq in 2001, Nadin's lyrics confront political and social issues while exploring themes of identity, survival, and love. Her music advocates for peace and tolerance, weaving personal narratives into her songs. As she poignantly states, “Some people and stories we never hear of. The least we could do is share their stories.”

Through her art, Nadin not only shares her experiences of war and displacement but also serves as a voice for younger Arabic audiences, helping them connect with her lyrics amid the challenges they face in the Middle East today. Embracing her rich triple identity as an Iraqi, Egyptian, and Swedish artist, she celebrates a culturally diverse heritage that informs Tarabband’s sound and message.

With each performance, Tarabband invites audiences to embark on a musical journey that transcends borders, fostering understanding and connection through the universal language of music.
