Warriors from the East is an Afro-Fusion band based in Arusha. Their style of music is called “Nile blues,” named after blues music originating from African tribes such as the Maasai and Luo that lived along the banks of the River Nile. Their music comprises a mixture of Traditional African melodies with blues, jazz, reggae, dancehall, and rock elements.

The band combines traditional African instrumentation such as the Adungu from Uganda, Nyatiti from Kenya, Marimba from Tanzania, and Kraal from Ethiopia, with modern Western instruments such as the electric guitar, keyboard, saxophone, trumpet, and drum set.

The band was crowned winner of the Tanzanian Music Awards 2022, awarded for best dancehall song of the year, previously won KTMA awards in 2012, 2013, 2020, and 2021, Kukaye Moto award, as well as crowned best reggae band of the year in 2022. Warriors from the East are ambassadors of the East African Community and Culture and aim to promote its unity in their lyrics and melodies. Their mission is to use music as a powerful positive weapon to spread the message of peace, love, and unity.

After 18 years of working together, singing together, praying, and meditating together, this band of warriors for peace is spreading and thriving to promote a positive, spiritually aware lifestyle, far and wide from East Africa to the rest of Africa, then the UK, Europe, United States and Beyond!
