    Tryphon Evarist is a dynamic composer, music teacher, songwriter, and multi-award-winning artist from Zanzibar. With a remarkable mastery of various musical instruments, including the accordion, clarinet, and traditional drums, Tryphon showcases his exceptional musical prowess in every performance.

    His musical journey began at a young age when he joined the Dhow Countries Music Academy in 2013, the only music academy in Zanzibar. Today, he serves as both a music teacher and the Artistic Director at the academy, where he plays a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of musicians.

    As a seminal figure in Zanzibar's cultural and musical landscape, Tryphon is dedicated to preserving and innovating the island’s rich musical heritage. He has played with several bands, including the Mapanya Band and Waungwana Band, enriching his experience and versatility.

    In early 2024, Tryphon released a series of hit songs, including "Nitakuoa," "Sofia," "Maneno ya Kuambiwa," and "Pambana." His talent was recognized at the Zanzibar International Music Awards, where he won three prestigious awards: Best Traditional Taarab Singer of the Year, Best Traditional Taarab Song for "Nitakuoa," and Best Instrumentalist of the Year.

    Inspired by his success, Tryphon formed his own band to showcase his diverse compositions, unique sound, and exceptional vocal harmonies. He views the Sauti za Busara festival as the perfect platform to display his artistry, promising unforgettable surprises for his audience.

    With a passion for music that resonates deeply within his soul, Tryphon Evarist continues to elevate the cultural tapestry of Zanzibar, captivating listeners with his innovative approach and heartfelt performances.
