Stone Town Rockerz features band members from various parts of Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar, who met and joined at the Dhow Countries Music Academy. With their diverse cultural influences, this makes their music unique as they also combine local rhythms with afrobeat and Latino and western styles such as rock, jazz and roots reggae.

Inspired by Remmy Ongala, Siti bint Saad, Bi Kidude, Miriam Makeba, Fela Kuti, B.B. King, Bob Marley and Ali Farka Toure, the band plays songs that speak meaningfully to the people of East Africa and beyond. They have performed at various festivals including Sauti za Busara, Paza Festival, Marafiki and Mashariki festival.
